Hi - I've been injecting myself Enbrel for the past 4 weeks and so far all is ok except I have now started to get a reaction at the injection area a day or two after I do the injection. It swells up like a wasp sting and is itchy and stingy - does anyone else get this and if so what can I do to help with the itching/stinging feeling. I tried antisan cream but thing that has made it worse.

I inject in the leg with the pen type of injection as I also inject mxt and do that in my tummy.

Any advice???

Thanks

First and foremost speak to your rheumy department as soon as possible. Unfortunately the same thing happened to me and eventually I had to stop the Enbrel. I was told to take piriton which did help. Hopefully this is just a small reaction but you need to get their advice before you take anything.

Take care

Hi Ailsa

I have been using Enbrel since January but apart from sometimes stinging at the time I have had no reaction. However I always inject in the stomach as there is more flesh there. Have you spoke to the Enbrel nurse to see if she has any suggestions?
Hope you manage to sort it soon.

Best Wishes

Sue

Thanks for replies. I spoke to the nurse today and she advised to take anti-histimine tablets. Seems to be calming down a bit.
